As we wrap up 2025, we are reflecting with gratitude on an incredible Microsoft October Giving Campaign.
Since 2022, every October, Microsoft employees have volunteered for the Human Computation Institute’s Stall Catchers project, a gamified effort that results in real Alzheimer’s research.
Microsoft volunteers often engage in friendly competitions to see which teams can accomplish the most Alzheimer’s research.
Celebrating Impact, by the Numbers

The Best Part? The People
“The best thing about this year was seeing the familiar faces of Giving Champions and dedicated volunteers we've gotten to know over the years,” said Pietro Michelucci, the Executive Director of the Human Computation Institute. “Some were former champions!, some were bearing the champion torch for the first time, and some were coming back again on teams that have participated before.”
Human Computation Institute event organizer Maggie Lane said, “The Microsoft volunteers are competitive in the best way, and we have champions come back year after year who are invested in the research!”
Looking Ahead
The Microsoft Giving League offers a unique opportunity for employees to contribute to meaningful research while fostering teamwork and collaboration. For every hour logged, Microsoft generously makes an in-kind donation, helping to sustain Stall Catchers and its mission.
The best news? Anyone can participate anytime, not just in October. Stall Catchers is a game open to everyone, and we are especially grateful for the energy and passion Microsoft volunteers bring.
Thanks to all for being part of our community and volunteering to do real research.
